The McKenzie family served superb fish in this historic building for nearly 50 years.

Rick Stein voted the Magpie the best place in he country to eat fish and chips - and the queues started! In fact in 2006 it was reported that the Police were threatening to fine people 50 pounds for queueing outside, hey why not drop a tab end while you wait and pay the straight 100!!

Window tables overlook the Abbey, 199 steps and picturesque harbour of Whitby. Extremely popular with holiday-makers and locals alike, the food is always fresh and well cooked and the service friendly, quick and welcoming.


Fresh fish and shellfish straight off the quayside, up to 12 varieties each day plus crab, lobster and salmon. Local ham, home-made steak pie and 30 home-made desserts.
