Narrow lanes (ginnels & snickets) run off the main street - such as Ellerby Lane seen here - a great short cut for smugglers? Other snickets have great names such as Saltpanwell Steps and Arguments Yard (yes they DO!). Church Street runs almost from the swing bridge to the foot of the 199 steps, and of course as the name suggests - up to the Parish Church of St. Mary and the Abbey ruins. MORE... |
