Scarborough UK: Grave of Anne Bronte, St Marys Scarborough
Anne is reported to have always wanted to return to Scarborough, where she had spent family holidays - in fact a number of locations in Scarborough are the settings for the final scenes in the novel "Agnes Grey". When she finally travelled from Haworth, she was sick, having been diagnosed as suffering from influenza and consumption and, after only a few days, died here on May 28 1849 aged just 28. Anne Bronte is buried in the cemetary alongside St Mary's Church Scarborough. Anne, author of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Agnes Grey.
