St MaryÕs church is well worth a visit for its own beautiful interior and peaceful churchyard, but a short walk up the hill from the entrance gives a stunning panoramic view over the whole town.
With the walls of the castle looming above and the steep slope down into the town below, this is certainly an excellent place to appreciate the hilly nature of the whole area. As in many other parts of Scarborough, you are surrounded here by grassy slopes, alive on a warm summer day with the sound of grasshoppers and the silent flutter of butterfly wings.
