Walking along the Spa Footbridge with the Grand Hotel in the background makes you feel as though you have gone back in time, to an altogether more gracious age. Scarborough has been a resort for well over two hundred years and much of its architecture and street furniture shows this, and nowhere more clearly than the Spa Footbridge.
The views are breathtaking, over the sands and out to sea, or you can enjoy the view of splendid terraces and the magnificent Grand Hotel. The footbridge links the halves of the resort and was built when the tourism trade in Scarborough really took off in the early nineteenth century.
