Scarborough Castle has one of the most commanding positions in the area, which is of course why it was built there.
The keep is a ruin, but the curtain walls are more or less complete and have been kept in good repair over the years, despite the castle having been attacked many times. On a sunny day the walls hold the warmth of the sun and it is a very pleasant place to pick up a cooling sea breeze while leaning on warmed stone. If the day is stormy, the castle affords amazing views of the wide sky and wild seas out into the bay.
