The RNLI Lifeboat Station in Foreshore Road, Scarborough is a tourist attraction but it is also a very busy working slipway.
The seas around Scarborough are famously rough and they can turn from being flat calm to being whipped into furious waves in a matter of hours. The lifeboat out of Scarborough is one of the busiest in England and the men who man the boats have gathered nearly forty awards for gallantry over the years and have sadly lost fifteen men during rescues.
The lifeboat station has a collection point, where very badly needed funds can be donated by the public.
