From the Japanese garden, this view comes as a complete surprise. To see it you have to go round the back of the pagoda and suddenly there it is. You will probably hear the trickling waterfall first, before your eye is led outwards to see the lake and the terraces on the opposite side. Peasholm Park is full of surprises and this is one of the loveliest.
The Japanese garden itself has mature trees and some really attractive planting but this view is probably the jewel in the crown. The slope of the ground is used to create the waterfall, which looks completely natural and at home in its surroundings.
