The Sun Court at the Spa, here is a popular place to attend concerts or hold ceremonies. The Great Hall theatre is also situated in the Spa Complex here. This is the spot for perfect bucket-and-spade holidays, complete with donkeys on the beach. One of the oldest RNLI lifeboat stations is situated here at the top of the beach. The harbour area here is known as "Fish Pier". You can take a boat trip here, at Sandside next to the harbour. Scarborough Lighthouse is at the end of Vincent Pier. Luna Park is a small funfair beside the harbour area. This is the perfect place to part with your money - plenty of cafes, shops and a pub or two, too!
The quieter, vast expanse of North Bay is home to some spectacular Hotels, including the Clifton Hotel, overlooking the bay. Marine Drive and Royal Albert Drive afford a great view across the North Sea from above the sands.
North Bay is a Blue Flag Beach and here you can also find "Sands Apartments" at Peasholm Gap: a development of 5 star luxury holiday apartments, right on the sea front. A collection of brightly coloured beach huts is available here for daily or weekly hire.
In November 2011 the town gained another decedent resident with connections to the town as the remains of Sir Jimmy Savile were buried at Woodlands Cemetery, inclined at 45 degrees 'looking out to sea', with the coffin reputedly encased in concrete as a protection against grave-robbers.
Peasholm Park is found close to North Bay. Its boating lake is especially popular with families. You can ride on a miniature railway here from Peasholm Gap to the site of the old Atlantis Water Park. An open top bus ride is another way to enjoy the scenery.
High above is Scarborough Castle - one of the most dramatic castle sites in England. There are also ruins here of an earlier settlement.
Another high spot is Oliver's Mount, which is the site of the only "Roads" circuit for Motor Racing in England. There is a memorial here to those who died in the Great War.
